Undergraduate Students

Gabrielle Trier

Gaby joined the DPQoL in the Summer of 2022 and is now working as the lab coordinator. She is currently a senior majoring in kinesiology on the pre-PT Track with a minor in disability studies. Since she has joined the lab, her main focus has been on the FaMe. She is attending PT school in Summer 2024 and hopes to continue to work within the disability community.

Alyssa Martin

Alyssa joined the DPQoL laboratory in Fall 2022 and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology on a pre-physical therapy track. She enjoys advocating for underprivileged communities but also spends her time volunteering at the Wellness Gym at DRES.

Becky Shamberg

Becky is a sophomore majoring in Bioengineering with minors in Disability Studies and Art and Design. She joined the DPQoL laboratory in fall 2022 and is currently working on the Find Wheels study. She is passionate about disability advocacy and hopes to attend medical school in the future.

Riya Patel

I’m Riya and I’m a third year undergraduate student studying Interdisciplinary Health Sciences with a concentration in health diversity. I am also planning on attending PA school after graduation. 

Jesiah Bradshaw

Hey, my name is Jesiah Bradshaw. I am an undergraduate student at UIUC, majoring in kinesiology on a Pre-PT track. I am involved with several things on campus including the Pre-PT Club, Kinesiology Student Association, Minority Association of Pre-Health Students, along with the DPQOL Lab!

Katie Moy

Katie is a junior studying Kinesiology with a minor in Child Health and Well-Being on a pre-Physician Assistant track. She joined the lab in Spring 2023 and has been working on the FaMe project ever since. She hopes to continue her work of researching and implementing ways to improve the lives of people with disabilities during her time in the lab and in a future healthcare career.

Grace Nguyen

Grace is currently a junior studying Kinesiology on the Pre-Physical Therapy Track. She joined the DPQoL Lab in Fall 2023 and is working on the FEW Study. While working in this lab she hopes to advance her knowledge and understanding of disability, participation, and quality of life to help others.

Ash Norvask

Ash is currently enrolled at Parkland and is planning to transfer to UIUC fall of 2024. Ash majors in kinesiology and plans to minor in disability studies. They have been a part of the FaMe lab since the summer of 23’. Ash hopes to gain insight through research that will better help them serve people with disabilities. 

MaryAnne Nguyen

MaryAnne is currently a third-year undergraduate student majoring in chemistry with a minor in public health. She joined DPQoL in fall 2023 and is working on the iROLL-O+ study. Since joining the lab, she hopes to benefit those with disabilities in the communities around her and to learn more about disability advocacy. After undergrad, MaryAnne plans to attend medical school.

Richelle Faye Abano

Richelle Faye is a junior studying Interdisciplinary Health Sciences with a concentration in Health Diversity and minoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She joined the DPQoL lab in Fall 2023 and looks forward to collaborating with fellow students who share her passion for developing research and awareness aimed at improving the lives of individuals with disabilities.

Natalya Cheema

My name is Natalya and I’m a senior majoring in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences on the pre-medicine track. I’m passionate about improving the lives of people with disabilities by implementing more accessibility, fostering inclusivity, and promoting technology solutions that empower their independence. 

Ella Phalen

I am a sophomore Kinesiology major on the Pre-PT track. After earning a DPT, I plan to work to improve the lives of people with injuries/ disabilities through physical therapy. I’m very excited to learn more about disabilities through this lab and apply it to better serve my future patients!

Sydney Shannon

I am a sophomore majoring in kinesiology on the Pre-PT track. I have joined the DPQoL lab this semester Spring 2024 and I am working on the FEW study. I am hoping to gain research experience and make a difference in the lives of those with disabilities.

Collin Janusz

I am a sophomore majoring in kinesiology on the pre-physical therapy track. This is my first semester in the DPQoL lab. I am excited to assist in research that will help people with disabilities in my community. I am also interested in the world of research and am glad to be given the opportunity to be a part of it.
