Undergraduate Students

Alyssa Martin

Alyssa joined the DPQoL laboratory in Fall 2022 and is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology on a pre-physical therapy track. She enjoys advocating for underprivileged communities but also spends her time volunteering at the Wellness Gym at DRES.
Becky Shamberg

Becky is a sophomore majoring in Bioengineering with minors in Disability Studies and Art and Design. She joined the DPQoL laboratory in fall 2022 and is currently working on the Find Wheels study. She is passionate about disability advocacy and hopes to attend medical school in the future.
Riya Patel

I'm Riya and I'm a third year undergraduate student studying Interdisciplinary Health Sciences with a concentration in health diversity. I am also planning on attending PA school after graduation. 
Jesiah Bradshaw

Hey, my name is Jesiah Bradshaw. I am an undergraduate student at UIUC, majoring in kinesiology on a Pre-PT track. I am involved with several things on campus including the Pre-PT Club, Kinesiology Student Association, Minority Association of Pre-Health Students, along with the DPQOL Lab!
Natalya Cheema

Natalya is a junior majoring in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences on the pre-medicine track and joined the lab in Fall 2022. She is currently working on the Fall Concerns study and is passionate about improving the lives of those with disabilities.
Patrick Niec
Hi everyone! My name is Patrick Niec, and I am a recent graduate from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I joined the Disability and Participation Quality of Life Research Laboratory in May 2022. My team and I are currently working on the transition of a fall intervention prevention program known as iROLL to a mobile application! Outside of the lab I work at Carle Hospital as a Healthcare Technician and at Beckwith Residential Services as a personal assistant. I am also the head coach of a 1st and 2nd grade basketball team in the Champaign Park District. In my free time, I love going to the gym and the sport of bodybuilding, I hope to compete in a bodybuilding show in the near future! 
Yi Sun

Hello! My name is Yi Sun. I am a senior studying Chemistry and on the pre-dental track, and I am interested in improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. I like to play the piano and tennis in my free time.
Gaby Trier

I’m Gaby Trier and I’m a junior majoring in kinesiology with a minor in disability studies. I am planning on pursuing a graduate degree to be a physical therapist!
Katie Moy

Katie is currently a sophomore studying Kinesiology on the pre-Physician Assistant track. She joined the DPQoL lab in 2023 to help improve the lives of those with disabilities. She hopes to use what she learns from this experience to become a more equitable health care provider in the future.
Gracie Savino
Gracie is a senior majoring in Kinesiology with a minor in Disability Studies. After graduating in May, she will begin Northwestern University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Gracie joined the DPQoL laboratory in the spring of 2021 and appreciates all the insight she has gained along the way into how the quality of life can be enhanced and strengthened among the community of individuals living with disabilities. Gracie is very passionate about working with and advocating for individuals with disabilities and hopes to continue throughout her future endeavors. 
Arman Sandhu

Hi everyone! My name is Arman and I am a recent graduate of UIUC! I graduated with a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. I joined the lab in July of 2021 and have since been working as a research assistant and more recently a lab coordinator! Look forward to continue to work in the DPQOL!
