Dr. Rice and graduate student Weiwei Li presented at this year’s Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals (ASCIP) Conference held in San Diego, California. Their noble mission of improving the health and well-being of individuals with spinal cord injuries/disabilities (SCI/D). The conference accomplishes this through advanced interdisciplinary education, fostering professional development, and advancing scientific research. During the conference, we were honored to give a platform presentation to illustrate the findings we arrived at through an in-depth literature study and insightful focus group discussions. Our focus was on identifying best practices associated with fire preparedness for individuals with SCI who are dependent on a wheelchair or scooter.
